HUSBAND & WIFE TEAM WIN PEWAUKEE MUSKIE COUNTRY™ EVENT
The Muskie Country Tournament Circuit™ (MCTC™) started the 2013 tournament season with a weekend of two one day qualifiers starting with Pewaukee on May 18th followed by the Sunday tournament on Okauchee the 19th. Even though the start of spring had been had been delayed by weeks, the muskies were still cooperative and seven muskies would be tallied.
The first fish of the day would be captured by Tony Piantek and Dan Buss on at 6:36am measuring 35 3/4 inches. The second muskie of the day would be the largest fish of the day that scored 41.25 inches at 7:10am by the husband and wife team of Gene and Lorie Scherf and because there wasn't a team who doubled for the day, their largest muskie for the event would give them the 2013 title. Ben Peterson and Clay Heller would land a 36” muskie at 8:05am. Paul Meier and Rick Busalacchi would put the “heat on” the leaders when they scored a 40 ¾ inch muskie at 10:00am but they would come up a half an inch short. Bill and Jeff Wyrwa would tally the final muskie of the day with a 38.25 incher at 2:05pm.
Other teams who would score on muskies for the competition were; Dan and Tim Busch at 7:45am with a 34 1/2" incher, and Paul Waskow and Mike Kretschmer with a 34” muskie at 9:12am.

4th - Ben Peterson/Clay Heller

The next scheduled Muskie Country Tournament Circuit™ weekend is scheduled for the first weekend of June 1st and 2nd on Butternut Lake, Saturday and the Phillips Chain of Lakes the following Sunday. There are still open spots for both events. If you haven't already signed up for the tournament(s) you can sign up for one or both tournament(s) on the Friday night, May 31st , before the tournaments at the Great Northern Pines Resort on the east shore of Butternut Lake on Lake Shore Drive from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. If you intend to sign up for just the Phillips Chain, sign up is at Harbor View Restaurant in Phillips on HWY 13 from 5:30pm to 6:00pm.
