MUSKIE COUNTRY™ VILAS COUNTY WEEKEND IN THE BIG FREEZE
For this past Memorial Day Weekend in Vilas County, the "Big Chill" was on for the Muskie Double Header™ weekend of tournaments the Muskie Country Tournament Circuit™ (MCTC™) hosted, making muskie anglers of northern Wisconsin wonder if there is ever going to be a spring this year, and rumors of summer just a "fleet of fancy". The water temps for either event was just a little better than freezing with Lac Vieux Desert temps warming up to a day time high of 55 degrees on Saturday, May 25th and North/South Twin Lakes waters temp on Monday, May 27 as low as 42 degrees on the main lake with the warmest temps on South Twin with highs at 53 degrees. Although the competing angler whipped the water to a froth, not much could improve the attitude of the muskies and only one fish would be score on Monday for the two MCTC™ qualifying events.
With no fish being registered for Saturday's Muskie Country™ qualifying event on Lac Vieux Desert, the winners were determined by a draw.

The next scheduled Muskie Country Tournament Circuit™ weekend is scheduled for the first weekend of June 1st and 2nd on Butternut Lake, Saturday and the Phillips Chain of Lakes the following Sunday. There are still open spots for both events. If you haven't already signed up for the tournament(s) you can sign up for one or both tournament(s) on the Friday night, May 31st , before the tournaments at the Great Northern Pines Resort on the east shore of Butternut Lake on Lake Shore Drive from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. If you intend to sign up for just the Phillips Chain, sign up is at Harbor View Restaurant in Phillips on HWY 13 from 5:30pm to 6:00pm.
